Rogues' Memories - Adventures with Rex Wotton.

This is a playful tale of a wild and quixotic person who had an excellent spirit of adventure and a bizarre spirit of fun.  Rex Wotton managed the West Coast Watersports center at Coral Reef hotel. It was just a short walk from Settlers Beach. The shop took hotel guest diving and on daytime and sunset cruises along the coast. He was a professional seaman trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in all matters of ship navigation, and marine work. Rex was just one of the most enchanting Rogues of Barbados. His sense of fun and sharp wit surrounded every situation.

In his early teens, he had a habit of disappearing into the woods: Taking off with just the bare necessaries, trousers, t-shirt, footwear, Swiss army knife, a planters hat, and little else, he lived off the land: He sheltered amidst trees, caves, and rocks, which he covered with shrubbery and debris, creating a roof with palms and banana leaves. Banana leaves have many usages. Wrapped around food, they serve as a container for cooking over a fire. They create an excellent surface to serve up a meal, and can be used as a shade and a cover on which to lie down.
